Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC on Wednesday launched a mid-range dual-SIM smartphone called E1 in China. The device also went on sale the same day.
HTC E1 sports a super LCD 2 display with 480x800 pixel resolution and runs on the Android mobile OS version 4.1 Jelly Bean along with HTC Sense 4.0+ user-interface.
The new smartphone packs a 1.15GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card.
HTC E1 is available in the Chinese markets for 1799 yuan (around ₹15,700), but there is no word about the smartphone's availability in other markets of Asia and Europe.
Lately, HTC has witnessed a loss of market share in the global smartphone business, with the emergence of Chinese low-cost smartphone makers ZTE and Huawei. Adding woes to the company, HTC One's April launch in Asia might get pushed to May while US and Europe's March 15 launch has also been postponed by a few more weeks.
With price-sensitive Asian markets prefering low-cost devices, HTC may recover from its losses following the launch of the E1 smartphone.
