HTC Desire 816 has been launched in India several weeks after it was announced. Priced at ₹24,450, the device will compete with counterparts like Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra in price-sensitive Indian market.
The device, which was announced at the 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, is now available on Indian online retailers. The price of the smartphone was said to be ₹23,990 but it (grey color) has a price tag of ₹27,370 on Infibeam and ₹25,499 on Flipkart.
Only white and grey models of HTC Desire 816 are available online though launched in multiple colors.
Entering the Indian market a little late, the device will have to take on devices like Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra that have hit the stores.
Both HTC Desire 816 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo sport a 5.5-inch display (720x1280p) while Sony Xperia T2 Ultra comes with a bigger screen, 6.0-inch. However, Sony's smartphone has only 245 ppi pixel density compared to 267 ppi of its rivals due to bigger screen size.
When it comes to processor, HTC Desire 816 boasts of Snapdragon 600 series quad-core CPU with 1.6GHz speed, whereas Sony Xperia T2 Ultra packs slower 1.2GHz quad-core processor and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, a 1.3GHz Exynos 5260.
Priced above ₹20,000 and below ₹30,000, the devices may end up eating into each other's revenues.
