Taiwanese consumer electronics major HTC is reportedly planning to launch the flagship 10 series smartphone in India later this week.

Last month, after the official unveiling of the HTC 10 and 10 Lifestyle, there was some confusion whether the former model will be made available in the country as the India website listed only the 10 Lifestyle variant. For this, HTC was panned on social media sites by fans. Later, the company formally released a press release that said that the marquee HTC 10 series will be made available in India, but had refrained from announcing the official launch date.

Now, HTC has begun sending out invites to media outlets for an event on May 26 in India hinting the company will finally reveal the official price and release date of the HTC 10.

For the uninitiated, HTC 10 and 10 Lifestyle share most of the features, but differ in two key aspects. The former boasts the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC (System-on-Chip) backed by sumptuous 4GB RAM, whereas the latter comes with low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor and features 3GB RAM.

The rest of the specification such as screen, camera, battery capacity, build quality and design language remains the same in both the devices.

The key attribute of HTC 10 series is their camera hardware. They boast 5MP front snapper with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, making HTC 10 series devices the only smartphones in the market to boast front camera with Optical Imaging technology.

On the back, they come with a 12MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, second-generation laser autofocus, dual-tone LED, OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), auto HDR.

HTC 10 series feature dual-textured metal shell with a layer of protective glass on the back with chamfered metal frame around the edge. On the front, they sport 5.2-inch QHD (2560x1440p) super LCD 5 display having pixel density of 564 ppi(pixels per inch), physical home button which also doubles up as a fingerprint-based unlock button, HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi system with Dolby audio technology and a 3000mAh battery.
