HTC has launched a string of mid-range smartphones in its Desire series during the past few months. But they have managed to receive only lukewarm response in the market.
Now, the company is reportedly planning to launch an affordable HTC 10-inspired Desire series phone, Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) claimed, citing reliable sources.
Blass also added that the new Desire 10 will be released by the end of the third quarter of this year. So one can expect HTC to use the upcoming Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) 2016 (Sept. 04-09) event in Germany as the launch pad to unveil the Desire 10.
A snapshot of Desire 10 is already floating around on the internet. It shows the device's metal-clad back panel with circular camera module with dual-LED flash paired with laser autofocus component, similar to the flagship HTC 10. However, the leaked image may be a photoshopped model.
However, the existence of the Desire 10 is less doubtful, as this piece of information is backed by one of the smartphone industry's most reliable tipsters, Evan Blass.
HTC 10 has received widespread accolades for its design, and if the same is used in the Desire 10, the company is certain to gain traction, especially in emerging markets like India and China.
As of now, there is no official word on the specifications of the Desire 10. But leaked information will start rolling out soon, as the device is rumoured to be launched at IFA 2016 (Sept. 4-9).
