Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan had a fairytale kind of a love story but the couple announced the end of their 17-year-old relationship on Friday.
Hrithik and Sussanne were childhood sweethearts and got married in 2000, soon after the release of his first film "Kaho Na Pyaar Hai". The actor, during a chat show, had revealed that his love story started at the age of 12, as he got infatuated with Sussanne when she used to play in the building compound.
They grew up in the same friends circle but Hrithik never confessed his feelings for her as he was too shy. Later, Sussanne went to the US and Hrithik started to focus on his career.
Then one day, during Sunaina's (Hrithik's sister) engagement, he saw her again and told his friend that she was going to be 'mine'.
Hrithik and Sussanne later met at a traffic signal but they did not speak to each other. They spoke to each other only after Kunal Kapoor, their mutual friend, insisted them to call up each other.
Sussanne, during an interview with Simi Garewal on her chat show, said that "from day one we just connected."
Hrithik wanted to marry Sussanne and on 16 January 1997, he wrote a letter to her which reads:
"Dear Sussanne,
I hope this letter finds you in the pink of hunger. I just wanted you to know that I love you very very very much and that I would want to live my entire life with you beside me. Will You?"
The couple got married on 20 December, 2000, in a private ceremony which was attended by family and friends.
