Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil is in trouble. It is being said that the film is highly influenced by a Netflix original series Daredevil.
Talking to Mumbai Mirror, a source revealed that the makers of the show believe that the action sequences and colour tone appear similar in the Roshan-fronted revenge-thriller. Netflix is apparently planning on taking a legal action against the Kaabil team.
"Protagonists of both the productions are blind while even the action sequences look the same. The colour schemes are also similar. This has upset Netflix and they will be taking legal action against Rakesh Roshan's FilmKraft Productions and Sanjay Gupta's White Feature Films," the insider further elaborated.
Meanwhile, director Sanjay Gupta has rubbished the claims adding that it's preposterous because Roshan is not playing a superhero in the film. "His character is that of a blind man who does what he does best. In Daredevil, the protagonist fights 30 people at a time," he told the leading daily.
Gupta assured that if Netflix sues them, the makers will fight back.
Scheduled to be released on January 25, Kaabil will see Roshan go on a manhunt for the killers of his wife (to be played by Yami Gautam). The pre-release hype around the flick is lukewarm but Roshan enjoys a loyal fanbase and, therefore, the opening day collection is expected to be in double digits.
However, Kaabil will face stiff competition from Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, which also releases on the same day. It is a big-ticket film and will see Khan play a bootlegger. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the crime-thriller film also stars Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in key roles.
