Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan has signed Excel Entertainment's science fiction flick, which had Aamir Khan in consideration until recently.
The 39-year-old has reportedly given his nod to the project, which is set to revolve around the theme of time travel with some romance.
"The film is a sci-fi drama with a time-travel spin. It has a romantic angle which spans across timelines. When the script went to Hrithik, he was impressed and promptly agreed to come on board," informed a source to Mumbai Mirror.
The film will be directed by debutant Nitya Mehra, who has previously assisted directors on films like "Life of Pi", "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" and "Don." The Roshan starrer is expected to be made on a lavish budget and will start rolling from early 2015.
The project was reportedly offered to Khan but the superstar denied the reports as rumours.
With Roshan committing to the project, the actor is is likely to pair up with Deepika Padukone, who had given her nod to the project at a prior occasion.
Earlier this year Padukone had expressed a desire to work with Roshan and by the looks of the recent development, the actress' wish could soon be fulfilled.
Meanwhile, apart from "Bang Bang", Roshan has also reportedly signed up for Ashutosh Gowariker's ambitious project "Mohenjo-daro." Incidentally, Padukone too was approached for the film, but the actress declined the offer owing to her packed schedule. Even Katrina Kaif is said to have rejected the film leaving the filmmaker in quite a lurch.
