The verdict in Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut's legal battle, which can easily be called the biggest and much-publicised Bollywood scandal of the year, is finally out. The Mumbai police's cyber crime cell is likely to close the case due to lack of any evidence.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the forensic probe into the private emails, which Kangana claims Hrithik sent to her, contrary to what the latter believes to be the handiwork of an impostor, has failed to draw any conclusion. The police's forensic department have now submitted a "NIL report," which means that the police were unable to confirm if hroshan@email.com was indeed a fake account through which the private emails were exchanged. The cyber police is likely to close the case.
"We have been unable to find anything on the mail ID as the server is located in the US. Now it is very difficult to ascertain who was using the account. Still, we will try to conclude [the case] from the available evidence," said Sanjay Saxena, joint commissioner of police, Crime Branch.
A senior police officer said, "It's a dead end. Only data from the server based in the US could have helped us in identifying the user of the email account."
Talking about the outcome of the probe, Kangana's lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee said that he isn't surprised as this only proves his client's statement to be true. Kangana had claimed that there was no impostor and that it was Hrithik who was communicating with her through the emails. "We are not surprised to learn that the police have, after a thorough investigation, filed a NIL report, which means that they could not trace any impostor as was claimed by Hrithik Roshan...Kangana has always been maintaining that there was no impostor ever," he told the daily.
Siddiquee further added, "No one can deny the fact that Kangana had to uselessly bear the brunt of unwarranted and uncalled for actions on the part of Hrithik Roshan."
It should be mentioned here that differences between the Kaabil actor and Kangana came out in open when reports of the actor not wanting to work with her in Aashiqui 3 surfaced. This didn't go down well with the actress, who in an interview with an entertainment portal, referred to the actor as a "silly ex."
To which, Hrithik took to his Twitter handle to deny the news of having dated the actress. "Ther r more chances of me having had an affair with d Pope dan any of d (Im sure wonderful) women d media hs ben naming. Thanks but no thanks [sic]," he had tweeted.
He later sent Kangana a notice demanding an unconditional apology for the defaming remark. Hrithik defended himself saying that they were never in a relationship and an impostor using his name was communicating with her from the email ID.
