OnePlus talked big with its last year's flagship, the OnePlus 2, claiming that it would be a flagship killer but devices from major smartphone makers like Apple, Samsung and HTC were superior. Now, all eyes are on the company's upcoming next-generation device dubbed as the OnePlus 3.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is yet to reveal the release date of its upcoming device but reports have suggested that it will come in June. The OnePlus One in June 2014 and the OnePlus 2 in August 2015.
Going by the reports, the OnePlus 3 is expected to have several upgrades over its predecessor. Pictures of the purported device posted on Google+ Oneplus forum shows it will come with a unibody metal build and strong hint of having a fingerprint sensor. It resembles the OnePlus 2 from the front and the HTC One series devices from the back.
According to reports, the OnePlus 3 will sport a 5.5-inch display with 1,920x1,080 pixels which means it won't be different from the OnePlus 2.
A device with model number OnePlus A3000, believed to be the upcoming flagship device, has made it to AnTuTu benchmarking site (via Weibo via 9to5Google). The device comes with a screen resolution of a 1,920x1,080, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, houses an Adreno 530 GPU, and runs an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The device also comes packed with a 32GB internal storage, a 4GB RAM, a 16MP main camera, and an 8MP front-snapper.
There are also reports that the handset will come packed with a 64GB internal storage and a 6GB RAM, and house a 3,500mAh battery with fast-charging technology.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 2 comes in two variants – a 16GB internal memory with 3GB RAM and a 64GB internal storage with 4GB RAM. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, Adreno 430 GPU, a 13MP main camnera with f/2.0 aperture and OIS, a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.4 aperture and a non-removable Li-Po 3,300mAh battery.
