Randeep Hooda has started a social campaign titled "Heroes Without Makeup" to inspire people to work for the betterment of the society and also give due recognition to persons who do something good for the society.
The actor has been bringing the "real heroes" in the limelight by sharing videos of the commoners, who contribute to the society without any vested interest. Randeep has been sharing videos on Facebook with the hashtag #HeroesWithoutMakeup.
The Sarabjit actor said that he always wanted to do something for the society as he felt there are many things in the world that need to be corrected. "Whenever I would pick up a newspaper or switch on the TV, there seems to be so much wrong with the world and I used to feel very helpless thinking what can a single person do? I would get very depressed at times," Randeep said in a statement.
Sharing the motivation behind starting Heroes Without Makeup campaign, Randeep said that one aged man advised him to change smaller things first to see big changes in society.
"Once I was sitting in a plane and there was this old gentleman who asked me 'beta what's wrong', I said I want to change the world but I don't know where to start. There is so much wrong, what a single person can do? So he said, 'you can't change the world, you can change one thing at a time' and I was like that's true," Randeep said.
"He said 'Go to your village and make a small positive change. That will make you feel encouraged and you can inspire others as well to make those small changes.' Then I realised that there are many heroes. Some heroes apply makeup and perform heroic stunts, other heroes without makeup, are the ones who actually take a step forward to make a change. That's how I started the campaign," the actor added.
