Did you come across reports on Malayalam actress Parvathy raising her remuneration to Rs. 1 crore after back-to-back hits? Before you fall prey to the fake news, we advise you to read the latest Facebook post of the actress. She has lashed out at media for not cross-checking facts before publishing an article.
In an open letter to media, the Ennu Ninte Moideen actress has questioned why media houses, namely Filmibeat, Asianet News, Metromatinee and many more, reported her to be the highest paid actress in Mollywood. Parvathy reacted to the news claiming she has never revealed her remuneration to any channel or website. She went on to say her remuneration is a matter between the film's producer and herself.
"To the media, How about we agree to stick to ethics? I don't remember ever revealing to any channel/website how much I get paid. I also have not got any message or call from any media agency/journalist asking me the same. However, websites and news channels such as (filmibeat, asianet news, metromatinee and many more) have gone ahead and decided how much my remuneration is and why I "hiked" my price! [sic]," Parvathy posted on her social media page.
Parvathy has also criticised media for not checking the facts. "How hard is it really to check facts? Isn't that the most basic of steps a journalist must take? Is it any lack of news that prompts you to make up stories backing it up by the most disgusting lie of a phrase "according to sources"? [sic]," her post reads.
It's another matter altogether that how much I get paid is none of anybody's business except between the producer and I. Also, my talking about wage disparity does not warrant such a move on your behalf either. Wage disparity is a social concern that needs to be discussed. To create fake news of an artists pay is just wrong.
Parvathy, who made her debut in Rosshan Andrrews hit Malayalam movie Notebook, has also requested all news websites to remove the false articles published on her remuneration. "Kindly remove such false and baseless articles and elevate your standards. I still have not given up hope on you. We, the people, need you to be honest. We, your subjects, deserve your respect. Deeply disappointed, P [sic]," the actress concluded her Facebook post.
