"How to Get Away With Murder" is on a winter hiatus, but that does not stop us fans from speculating about the future of the ABC show. In the last episode, "What Did We Do?" we finally got a clue as to why Annalise (Voila Davis) has a soft-spot for K5's lost puppy Wes (Alfred Enoch).
Although we know that Wes has had a difficult childhood, especially after his mother's suicide, his past has always remained a little ambiguous. From the flashback scene featured in Season 2 Episode 9, it looks like there may be more to his mother's death than we already knew.
After the final scene from the current timeline, where Wes shoots Annalise in the gut, despite her asking to be shot in the leg, we see a young Annalise and Eve (Famke Janssen) in a police precinct. There, an 8-year-old boy named Christoph is being questioned about his mother's suicide and we see a shocked Annalise and Eve watching them from outside the interrogation room. The episode ends with Eve asking, "Good God, Annalise, what did we do?"
It is clear that the young attorneys had some involvement in either the murder itself or in covering it up. Annalise is after all an expert in the same, having kept the murderers of Sam (Tom Verica) and Rebecca (Katie Findlay) in Season 1 from being imprisoned, and attempting to do the same with Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns).
From the way Annalise murmured "Christoph" over and over when she got shot by Wes, and also when she told Eve "it's him", we can be certain that Wes is in fact the boy from their past. Wes too seemed shocked when he heard Christoph from Annalise's mouth.
Will he try to uncover the truth behind how she knows the real him? Will he be too embarrassed to face her when she returns from the dead? We will have to wait till Thursday, 11 February, when Season 2 Episode 10 airs on ABC.
