When "How to Get Away with Murder" (HTGAWM) will pick up from its midseason finale next year, Actress Marcia Gay Harden will join the cast list of the popular Shonda Rhimes drama on ABC.
Though the details about her character has been kept under wraps, the Oscar and Tony Award winning actress is expected to appear in a recurring role in the freshman legal drama, reported Variety.
Harden's character in the show might be closer to Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and she could be depicting the role of Professor Sam Keating's (Tom Verica) sister or his first wife, indicated Hypable.
"HTGAWM" is one of the most popular shows of this fall and it is among the few new television dramas that have received a full season order.
The legal drama is produced by Rhimes along with Betsy Beers and Peter Nowalk and it will air its mid season finale on 20 November, Thursday, at 10 pm on ABC.
Harden began her journey to the world of entertainment in 1979 with a student movie produced at the University of Texas and her last onscreen appearance was in ABC's "Trophy Wife".
The 55-year-old actress won the Oscar Awards for the best actress in supporting role for her appearances in "Pollock" (2000) as well as "Mystic River" (2003).
She got Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series titled "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2007) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie in "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler" (2009).
Her upcoming big screen projects include "50 Shades of Grey" and "Get a Job". She will also appear in HBO series "The Newsroom".
