The viral YouTube video "How Does A Homeless Man Spend $100?" is fake, alleged an eyewitness who claims to have been there while the footage was being shot.
"How Does A Homeless Man Spend $100?" was one of the most popular videos posted by popular prankster Josh Paler Lin. In the video, Paler Lin gives a homeless man called "Thomas" a $100 and then follows the man to see how he spends the money.
At first, Thomas is seen entering the liquor store, but as the video progresses, it shows that the man buys food for other homeless people.
The video has more than 28 million views on YouTube and triggered off sniffles and "awws" all around the globe.
But now, an eyewitness is raining on the video's parade.
In an interview on Vocativ, Taugan Tan Kadalim, the eye witness who claimed he was buying a lottery ticket at the liquor store Thomas entered, said the whole thing was "staged."
"He drove Thomas to the liquor store. While I think the guy is homeless, it is clear that from what I saw every part of that scene was staged," Kadalim told the website.
Kadalim also reportedly saw Paler Lin talking to the clerk at the Liquor store while Thomas waited outside.
"I'm not frustrated because he's helping a homeless man and people love this video," Kadalim added. "I'm frustrated because it's dishonest and exploitive."
Paler Lin has, however, denied the allegations and said:
There is no way we're making any of this up. This is real."
