Popular two-wheeler maker Bajaj is putting its upcoming power cruiser the Pulsar CS400 through rigorous tests in the country. If it was a video of the Pulsar CS400 racing ahead of Yamaha R 15 that made headlines last week, this time around, it is KTM Duke 200 trying to catch up with the upcoming Pulsar 400 offering.
A YouTube video shared by a user named Bhushan Emekar shows the Pulsar CS400 comfortably cruising through a busy street leaving the KTM Duke 290 far behind. Although the comparison between these two -- the Pulsar CS400 and KTM Duke 200 -- does not stand as the former gets a 200cc engine and the latter comes with a 400cc mill, the video is enough to give a fairly good idea of the capability of the upcoming Bajaj offering.
The Pulsar CS400 is expected be launched in the country in the third quarter, which is the July-September period. It was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2014 along with the Pulsar SS400 and since then it has kept biking enthusiasts on tenterhooks. In terms of styling, the production version of the Pulsar CS400 will remain almost identical, but it is expected to get minor tweaks like new split seats, twin instrument console — one on the handlebar as seen in other bikes and the other on the fuel tank and wide tyres. Other features expected include disc brakes for both the front and the rear and it is likely to feature LED headlamps, digital instrument panel and LED taillight.
At the heart, the Pulsar CS400 is likely to be a 375cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple-spark engine and come mated to six-speed transmission with fuel injection. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 1.7 lakh to Rs. 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom).The Pulsar CS400 will get dual channel ABS. However, it is yet to be known whether ABS will come as standard or optional.
