Huawei's subsidiary Honor has commenced rolling out the software update to the company's feature-rich mid-range Honor 7X and as promised, it comes with the much-awaited face unlock feature seen in flagship Honor View 10.
Besides the biometric authentication feature, the new firmware brings the AR (Augmented Reality) lens and the latest January 2018 security patch.
However, the update roll-out is being carried out only in China for now, but it is expected to be expanded to international regions in coming weeks, reported Android Soul.
Here's how to update your Honor 7X and get started with face unlock feature and AR Lens:
Step 1: If you get the update notification (build number: B192), select yes and download it
Step 2: Once downloaded, select install and follow the procedure as requested on the screen
Once the software is installed, go to Settings>> Security & privacy>> Face recognition >> register your face and you are good to go.
As far as the new camera feature, go to Camera >> Modes>> AR Lens. Once enabled, users can add filters similar to Snapchat-like effects on their selfies
If you haven't received the update notification, it's alright. Since the software release process is carried out in phases, it will reach all regions within a week.
Until then, users can look for OTA update manually by going to Settings>> scroll down to About phone>> check system update. If it says there is an update available, follow the procedure as mentioned above.
Honor 7X is one of the best in the mid-range smartphone segment and now with the addition of new features, it is certain to find more traction in emerging markets particularly in India.
