Huawei launched its latest smartphone in the Honor series, the Honor 6X, succeeding the popular Honor 5X with incremental upgrades. The smartphone was released only in China and the pre-orders for the phone went live on Tuesday, which turned out to be a great deal of interest for the shoppers.
Honor 6X will be available on October 25, but the handset crossed 1 million registrations in just one day. Although pre-orders will be taken for the Honor 6X until the device's sale, it doesn't translate to actual sales. But it is certainly a sign of the device's popularity and interest among smartphone lovers.
Comparatively, the company's last release of the Honor 8 in the U.S., the handset gained 5 million registrations over a period of four days following its announcement. By average, Honor 6X is equivalent to Honor 8, but the latter sold up to 1.5 million units over two months, which is still a huge number. It remains to be seen whether Honor 6X meets similar popularity.
With 1 million registrations, Honor 6X is one of the most popular phones in China. But what makes this device so popular is the bigger question, for which we have listed the top viable reasons below:
Camera
One of the biggest highlight of the Honor 6X is the camera setup. The handset packs a 12MP rear-facing camera + 2MP secondary camera to form a dual-camera setup as seen in Huawei's flagship offerings. The primary sensor has a 6P lens, 1.25 micron pixel size and PDAF for detailed photography while the 2MP snapper takes care of the depth in the photographs.
On the front, there is an equally impressive 8MP snapper for selfies.
Price
Another top reason that directly impacts the handset's popularity is its price and Huawei seems to have got it right with the Honor 6X. The handset comes in three variants, 3GB+32GB, 4GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB, costing ¥999, ¥1,299 and ¥1,599, respectively.
Design
Huawei has a magical touch when it comes to designing its phones and the same reflects in the Honor 6X. The handset boasts a metal-based cover at the back with fingerprint scanner and the dual camera setup, while the front design is adorned by a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass. The handset comes in gold, silver, grey, blue and rose gold, giving consumers a wide range of options to choose from.
Performance
Huawei has stepped up its game for the Honor 6X by powering it with its own octa-core Kirin 655 processor. The company ditches the Snapdragon 616, which powered the Honor 5X. Combine the new CPU with 3GB or 4GB RAM and the performance is likely to impress its users. Adding to that, the Honor 6X also sports a fingerprint scanner with great accuracy and quick authentication.
Battery
Under the hood, the Honor 6X packs a 3,340mAh battery, which is a slight upgrade compared to the 3,000mAh battery found in the Honor 5X. But the new Honor model supports fast charging technology, which has proved to be a popular USP for smartphones in China.
4G with VoLTE
The growing demand for 4G and voice over LTE (VoLTE) is a strongly-demanded feature in budget and mid-range smartphones these days. Buyers of the Honor 6X can be rest assured the phone supports the latest bands for mobile network connectivity.
