With the WR-V compact SUV Honda seeming to have ticked the right box in the Indian market, suggest the latest bookings numbers. The WR-V, which was launched in India on March 16 has received over 12,000 bookings within two months.
The Japanese car-maker sold 3,266 units of the WR-V in April while the model had accounted 3,800 units in its launch in March. India is the first market of Honda to launch the WR-V and also to manufacture the model.
The WR-V, which is pitted against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport in the compact SUV segment, is the second best-selling model of the company in April. Last month, Honda has registered domestic sales of 14,480 units against 10,486 units in the corresponding month last year, registering a growth of 38.1 percent.
The WR-V, a contender in the crossover market has been priced starting at Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Under the hood, the new WR-V packs both petrol and diesel engines.
While a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, which can generate power of 90bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm, will power the petrol models, a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100bhp of power with 200Nm torque will do the duty in the diesel version of the WR-V. The transmission in the petrol variant is taken care of by a five-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel model gets a six-speed gearbox.
Honda WR-V hosts a slew of features such as cruise control, push-button and automatic sunroof. The crossover is now also rumoured to get a 1.5 litre petrol engine which also does duty in the new City.
