A report in News18 claims Honda will be calling it as 'utility vehicle' and it won't be either a scooter or a motorcycle. So, where will the new vehicle fit in? There is no clarity on that while the report claims it will fall into the commuter segment and will be aggressively priced. It will reportedly boast of practicality and versatility unlike any other offering in the price bracket.
There is no surprise if the report is anything to go buy. Honda had launched Navi, a combination of scooter and motorcycle in India at the Auto Expo 2016. Navi is the first product to be conceived, designed, developed and validated in India by Honda's R&D. Its unconventional styling raised many eyebrows at the show when it was introduced. It is neither a scooter nor a bike, but its success opened the door for a new kind of two-wheeler model in the country.
The healthy sales of Navi seem to have prompted Honda to bring the purported 'utility vehicle'. What is a two-wheeled 'utility vehicle' exactly? It will be revealed on June 20.
In the meantime, Honda is globally gearing up to launch an electric scooter and it has been confirmed for debut next year. Multiple reports say the electric scooter in question will be the production version of Honda EV Cub showcased at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. However, the concept is set to get a major makeover in production version in line with the evolved scooter designing pattern of the modern era. Honda is also working on larger electric and hybrid bikes.
