Honda Motors revealed the sketches of its new Honda Brio MPV known as a 'low' MPV or LMPV in Indonesia on Friday.
The car, which is expected to make its debut in Indonesia in 2013, showed a low-slung roof top and three-row seating. It sits on an elongated wheelbase and showcases a trendy and sporty look. Although some of the design match with the Brio, the new model is far more aggressive.
"Consumers in Indonesia had the honor to be the first time the world saw live performances Honda LMPV Concept at Indonesia International Motor Show starting on 19 September 2013. We believe this model will be a new option that can compete with models in its class," Overdrive quoted Jonfis Fandy, Marketing and After Sales Service Director PT Honda Prospect Motor, as saying.
Under the hood, the new LMPV from Honda is expected to be powered by a revised version of the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. Although Indonesia is the major market for the new model, India is also expected to get the vehicle in 2014. According to reports, India bound version of the vehicle will also have diesel option. The car will take on Mahindra Quanto, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Datsun GO in India.
"Honda LMPV Concept will be a special product for Honda in Indonesia because it is specifically designed to suit the needs of consumers and the character of the road in Indonesia," Tomoki Uchida, President Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor was quoted as saying.
