Honda is reportedly gearing up to launch its much awaited Mobilio MPV in India in July 2014, claims a new report.
Mobilio, a MPV offering of Honda has been rumoured for its launch in India for quite a while now. Now a latest report by IndianAutos Blog, citing official sources says that the Honda India will launch the Mobilio in July this year. Earlier in April, Honda Mobilio had appeared on the company's India website with the 'launching in a few months' tag. However, Honda is yet to make any official announcement on the exact launch date of the Mobilio in the domestic market.
Mobilio, which made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, is built on Honda's popular Brio hatchback platform and will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in the country. The petrol model of the car will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version of the car is likely to give 18 kmpl.
Earlier reports had indicated that the company has already started the trial production of Mobilio at the company's Greater Noida plant and the actual production will begin in June 2014. When launched, Mobilio will be pitted against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia in the domestic market and is likely to fall in the price range of ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Beside Mobilio, the country is also expecting the launch of Honda 2014 Jazz in India. Although there has been no word on the Jazz launch as of now, previous reports suggested that it will undergo production in July this year at the company's new Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
