As we wait to see the launch of Honda's much-anticipated Mobilio in the country on 23 July, new reports emerge that the Mobilio RS variant will be reaching Indian shores in September this year.
A new report of CarTrade indicates that the Honda Mobilio RS is likely to make its India entry in September; however, the report did not specify the exact launch date of the vehicle.
Honda Mobilio RS, the sporty variant of Mobilio, which is already in sales in the Indonesian market, has been rumored for an India launch for quite some time now. Although the company is yet to confirm the launch, it is certain that Honda will be bringing Mobilio RS to India soon, immediately after the launch of regular Mobilio.
Mobilio RS, which is slightly different from Mobilio's regular variant will be priced a little higher than the regular model in India and will feature new sporty front and rear bumper along with LED projector headlamps and chrome finishing fog lamps. In addition to this, the RS variant of the Mobilio is also upgraded with aerodynamic kit, roof-mounted spoiler and 15-inch full alloy wheels.
As far as the interior design and technology are concerned, Mobilio RS will come loaded with 6.1 inch touch screen audio system, reverse parking camera, steering mounted controls, faux wood garnish and leather upholstery.
In Indonesia, the new Mobilio RS is offered in seven colours – Crystal Black Pearl, Bronze Metallic Ionized, Brilliant Gold Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl and Alabaster Silver Metallic. Indian specific version is also likely to offer the choice of these same body colours.
Meanwhile, Honda, which confirmed the launch of Mobilio for 23 July has commenced the booking for the MPV with advance payment of ₹50,000. Under the hood, the regular model of Mobilio will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motors. The petrol model will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117 bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98 bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version is likely to give 18 kmpl. Mobilio is expected to fall in the price range of ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
