French auto manufacturer Renault might be getting ready for a big launch in the country. The Renault Lodgy MPV was seen testing in India for the first time, revealing company's intention to take a share of India's growing MPV segment market.
Lodgy, a strong rival of Japan auto maker Honda's Mobilio was snapped in Chennai by the IndianAutosBlog readers Santhosh and Sivakumar. At this point of time, there isn't much information on the Indian specific Lodgy and the heavy camouflaged test mule seen in the spy shots isn't helping either. However, the latest pictures indicate that the French auto maker will be bringing its Lodgy MPV to India's MPV market soon, which is heating up with the launch of Mobilio in the next couple of days.
Lodgy MPV, first seen at the Geneva Motor Show 2012, which entered later in the Ukraine market is likely to be offered with the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine in India in two states of tune. If reports are to be believed, the vehicle will be produced at the Renault-Nissan production facility at Oragadam, Chennai and will be reaching Indian shores by next year. Though it is too early to comment on the pricing of the car in India, rumours are that the company would be pricing Lodgy competitively in the market.
In India, Duster SUV was the game changer of the French auto maker. Duster has been a phenomenal success so far in the country and the launch of Lodgy also hopes to do the same. Meanwhile, Renault India launched a new edition of Duster as a part of its second anniversary in India.
Priced at ₹8.8 lakh (ex-Delhi showroom), the new edition Duster will be available in the country only till 20 July. It comes in new Amazon Green Colour featuring front armour with lamps, Neon interiors and smoked headlamps. Its power comes from 1.5l dCi Engine, which can churn out a power of 83.3 bhp and 200 Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The car promises a fuel efficiency of 20.45 Kmpl and its ground clearance stands at 205mm.
