A fresh batch spy shots of Renault's upcoming MPV Lodgy have hit the web, again from the southern Indian city Chennai where the car is expected to be manufactured.
Lodgy MPV, Renault's answer to Honda's new Mobilio MPV has been in the testing phase on Indian roads for quite some time now. Although the company has not revealed the exact launch date of the vehicle in India, a 2015 launch has already been confirmed by the French auto maker.
Talking about Lodgy MPV, the latest spy shots come from IndianAutos Blog reader Manoj who snapped the car in Chennai while it was on the test. The car, which is seen hiding under heavy camouflage was snapped up close, thus giving us a clear picture of the boxy rear profile of the new Lodgy.
Set to arrive most likely in early 2015, the new Renault Lodgy MPV is expected to receive 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine in India. Though the car made numerous appearances on the web through spy pics, most of the details and key specifications are unknown yet.
From what we know so far, Lodgy will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan production facility at Oragadam in Chennai and will get a price tag in the range of ₹8-₹11 lakh in India. The car, which is already in sales in some of the international markets will rival Honda's new Mobilio , Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Enjoy.
In another development, Renault will be launching its new Duster All-Wheel Drive in India on 24 September. The new model is likely to get features like three-spoke steering wheel, touch-screen infotainment system, steering-mounted Controls, 2-DIN stereo system, rear air-conditioning vents, keyless entry and rear-parking sensors.
Under the hood, the Duster AWD will carry the same K9K 1.5-litre four-cylinder eight-valve diesel engine, which can generate a power of 107 hp and peak torque of 240 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
