Honda Mobilio Bookings Open in India; Price, Launch Details

After a long wait for the official launch of Honda Mobilio MPV in India, latest reports suggest that bookings for the vehicle have begun in the country.

Honda Mobilio, a car which made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, has been trying the patience of tauto aficionados in the country. Last week, Honda that released a series of images of Mobilio on its official website confirmed that the vehicle will hit roads from July. However, the company still kept the auto lovers in dark about the exact launch of the Mobilio in the country.

Now the latest news that is swirling around the web is the commencement of bookings for Honda Mobilio in India for a token of ₹51,000. According to a report published by CarDekho, sources confirmed that Honda dealers in Delhi and Jaipur have started taking pre-orders for Mobilio with advance payment of ₹51,000 and the dealers in Pune and Mumbai will start the bookings in few days.

Underpinning Honda's popular Brio hatchback, Mobilio is Honda's first offering in the MPV segment in India. The vehicle will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in the country. Under the bonnet of petrol model, the car will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version is likely to give 18 kmpl.

Honda Mobilio will measure 4,390 mm in length, 1680 mm in width and 1610 mm in height and will come seated on a wheelbase of 2650 mm. It is all set to take on the likes of current market leaders like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia in India, Honda is likely to price its new MPV in the ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom) range.

The company started the trial production of the vehicle at their Greater Noida plant earlier last month, and the actual production of Mobilio will commence from this month (June).
