Honda's first MPV in India is proving to be a successful endeavour in the country. Mobilio MPV, which made its India entry two months back, has bagged more than 20,000 bookings in the country till date.
A new report of The Economic Times, citing Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HCIL shows that Honda Mobilio continues to receive overwhelming response in the country with 20,000 bookings so far.
Launched on 23 July in India, the new Honda MPV is offered in three trims in both diesel and petrol. Under the hood, Honda Mobilio packs 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.5 L i-VTEC petrol engine. The diesel engine of the Mobilio delivers 100PS @ 3,600 rpm, maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm and the petrol model promises to churn out a maximum power of 119 ps @ 6,600 rpm, maximum torque of 145 Nm @ 4,600 rpm. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Mobilio, which challenges Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia, surpassed the sales figure of Ertiga in August by selling 5,530 units.
The company also confirmed the launch of its new generation Jazz for next year. Expected to make its entry in March, the next generation Jazz is likely to be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options.
While the petrol Jazz is speculated to pack the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate a power of 87bhp, with a torque of 110Nm at 4800rpm, the diesel Jazz is likely to pack a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque. Features like power steering with mounted audio controls, front and rear power windows, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors and climate control unit are also expected to be included in new Jazz. In India, Jazz will rival Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20.
