Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), the wholly owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Co. Ltd has revealed its roadmap for the year 2014-15.
The company, the second largest two wheeler manufacturer in the country announced its future plans at its 13th Annual Business Meet in Japan. Honda said that the company will launch two new motorbikes in India by Q2 2015. While the first one will be a new addition to Honda's existing Dream series, the second will be a 160 cc sporty motorcycle.
Honda also said that the company is looking to expand its dealer network in the country and aims to sell 45 lakh units in 2014-15.
"Sustaining its superior growth, HMSI has set the challenging target of 45 lac unit sales in FY'2014-15. I am confident that propelled by 3 new launches including the Activa 125 and aggressive network expansion, Honda will meet expectations of its valued customers in India," OverDrive quoted Keita Muramatsu, President CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
In April, Honda reported a growth of 20.92 percent in total sales at 3,13,942 units in India. The company's total sales was 2,59,608 units in the corresponding month of the previous year. Recently, the company also unveiled Activa 125 in the country, with a price tag of ₹56, 607.
According to the company, the launch of Activa will help Honda achieve its target for this year. The new avatar of the latest Activa packs a 125cc, single cylinder, four-stroke engine, which can churn out a power of 8.6bhp at 6500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.12 Nm at 5500 rpm and comes mated to a V-Matic CVT transmission. It promises a fuel efficiency of 60-65 kmpl.
