Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) registered a growth of 63 percent for the month of August 2013 with the success of its recently launched Amaze sedan in the domestic auto market.
The company sold 8,913 units during August 2013, as against 5,470 units in the same months a year ago. Out of August's total sales, 6,242 have been contributed by Amaze.
"HCIL overall sales volume during August 2013 was quite robust. With the onset of festival season in West and South India, we have tried to maximize the production of Honda Amaze during August to be able to speed up the deliveries," said Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. VP - Sales and Marketing, HCIL in a press statement.
The Amaze sedan has been etching success stories ever since its launch in April. The vehicle also clocked a new sales milestone when it crossed 30,000 deliveries in less than a five months. The car which is touted as family vehicle is priced aggressively in the market. The base petrol variant is priced ₹4.99 lakh and the top two variants go for ₹6.62 lakh and ₹7.5 lakh. The middle variants of the petrol model are priced between ₹5.62 lakh and ₹6.60 lakh. The diesel variants cost as high as ₹7.60 lakh.Amaze which stands as a strong contender to Maruti's Swift Dzire could outnumber the booking figures of Dzire within the first few weeks of its launch.
Commenting on the new heights achieved by the Amaze, Sen said "Honda Amaze was conceptualized, produced and marketed as a family car for the evolving India. According to reports, the demand for Amaze is still high in the domestic market. To cash in on the demand and at the same time ensure speedy delivery of the vehicle by reducing the waiting period, Honda will commence the third shift of production at the Greater Noida plant from November 2013 onwards.
