Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) registered an increase of 16% in its domestic sales in February at 16,902 units.
The company had sold 14,543 units in the corresponding month, last year. In February, Honda sold 1,397 units of Brio, 7,163 units of Amaze and 6,505 units of City in India. In the same month, Honda's sports utility vehicle (SUV) CRV sales stood at 140 units.
Honda's first MPV-offering Mobilio witnessed a sale of 1,697 in February 2015 and the exports of the company stood at 1,119 units during the same period, taking the grand total of cars sold in February 2015 to 18,021units.
Meanwhile, Honda has started the production of its 2015 Jazz in India. Under the hood, the petrol Jazz is likely to pack the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate a power of 87bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm.
On the other hand, the diesel version will be able to draw power from a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.
Caught on camera recently, the new Jazz is expected to hit showrooms by mid-2015. When launched, Jazz will rival Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20.
