Honda has released the first official sketches of its upcoming compact SUV BR-V (Bold Runabout Vehicle), ahead of its world premiere at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2015, which is scheduled to take place in August.
The new BR-V, which is believed to be based on the Brio-platform, has been developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd (HRAP), Thailand, for Asian markets.
Bookings for the Honda BR-V SUV, the third model developed by HRAP, will open at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.
The Honda BR-V has been designed to accommodate seven seats with 3-row configuration and will be powered by 1.5L gasoline engine that will be tuned to give fuel efficiency and performance. The engine will come mated to two transmissions.
"We are confident that the Honda BR-V will be loved by Indonesian customers for its appealing design and value," said Tomoki Uchida, President Director of P.T. Honda Prospect Motor.
If Honda brings the same BR-V SUV to the Indian market, the engine line-up will include 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. Rumours are rife that the new Brio- based SUV BR-V is likely to be showcased at the Auto Expo, 2016.
