The Amaze compact sedan is the first diesel car launched from Honda Cars India's stable. Both the diesel and petrol variants of the Amaze sedan got positive response in the market and have been consistently in the top selling passenger cars list.
The Amaze was launched in India on 11 April, 2013 and is up for a facelift in 2016. A report from Oncars indicates the 2016 Amaze facelift will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and the launch will take place subsequently.
The facelift will carry over the same set of powertrains from the current model. The four-cylinder 1198cc i-VTEC petrol develops 86.7bhp at 6000rpm and 109Nm of torque at 4500rpm available with five speed manual and automatic transmission options. The four-cylinder 1498cc i-DTEC diesel engine develops 99bhp at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission.
The diesel engine is highly fuel efficient and is all-aluminium block, which results in light weight. The only criticism received is the engine noise that similar to some of the three-cylinder engined cars. The facelift will focus on achieving better NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels.
The sedan is also expected with minor updates exterior and interior wise. The front grille is expected get a restyle in line with the City sedan. Many chrome touches can be expected on the exterior. A restyled dashboard, which is more up market, will be added in the facelift. The new model will get improved quality materials and better fit and finish.
