With the dawn of 2016, the equations in the two-wheeler segment saw many changes. Japanese two-wheeler maker Honda's Activa range dethroned long-time leader Hero Splendor range in January in sales. The Honda scooter has now been on the top slot for eight months in a row.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India sold 2,80,790 units of the Activa in August, registering 29 percent growth over the 2,17,819 units sold in August 2015. Hero MotoCorp's best seller Splendor range found 2,29,061 takers, registering 26 percent growth over 1,81,993 units in August 2015.
Hero HX Deluxe registered a growth of 58 percent from 80,871 units in August 2015 to 1,27,752 units in August 2016. The motorcycle is the third best-selling two-wheeler in August. Hero Passion secured the fourth spot with 77,581 unit sales. However, it saw sales decline by five percent over 81,529 in August 2015.
TVS XL Super and Hero Glamour sealed the fifth and sixth places, respectively. TVS sold 75,435 units of XL Super while Hero sold 74,693 units of the Glamour motorcycle.
Hero CB Shine found 63,606 takers in August 2016 followed by TVS Jupiter, with 51,728 unit sales. At the last two places of the list of the top 10 best-selling two-wheelers in August 2016 are Bajaj Pulsar range and Bajaj CT. The pulsar range found 48,910 takers while Bajaj CT's sales stood at 44,599 units.
