The launch of the new Honda Accord Hybrid in India seems to be just around corner. If the emerging reports are to be believed, the Accord hybrid is likely to make its entry into the market as early as in October. However, the exact launch date of the model is yet to be known.
Honda had showcased the Accord at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. The model was also seen testing on Indian roads. In India, Honda is also expected bring the non-hybrid Accord too.
The ninth generation of the Accord in hybrid avatar is powered by 2.0-litre Atkinson Cycle i-VTEC four-cylinder engine coupled with two electric motors. It is mated to an E-CVT transmission and a 1.3 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output of the unit stands at 213bhp and it returns an overall fuel efficiency of 23.8kmpl. In India, the Accord hybrid will be pitched against Toyota Camry Hybrid.
The Accord in its regular form is expected to be offered with a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder engine in India with 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. The new Accord gets reworked front fascia with new headlight and grille and the interior sports a 7-inch touchscreen. Coming to the rear, the taillight clusters comes with LED tech and it features tweaked rear bumper. It will also get 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Accord was part of the Indian roads for almost five years since its entry in 2008. Honda later withdrew the model owing to poor sales.
