The followers of "Homeland" who are familiar with a strong and daring Peter Quinn can expect to watch a very different version of the character in the upcoming season of the show.
The political thriller concluded its last season showing Rupert Friend's character on a hospital bed and Carrie Mathison near him. But things may turn around for the two when the drama series returns on Showtime with its sixth season.
Showrunner Alex Gansa has already revealed that the character change for Quinn might not just have a great impact on his professional life but it is likely to change his relationship with Carrie. He described the character as a "very changed and altered Quinn".
"Quinn this coming season will really represent a very profound and familiar casualty of the war on terror for our audience. What he endured last year is different from what he's going through this year [when it comes to Carrie]," said the creator during his interaction with the media at the Television Critics Association press tour.
Gansa even revealed that the followers of "Homeland" can prepare themselves to watch a "very different and singular journey" of Claire Danes' character in season 6. According to him, fans of the political thriller will get a "different feel this season with a significant amount of momentum".
Meanwhile, a few set photos of the upcoming season that has been released online explains the change in looks for Carrie and Quinn. While the images portray a stressed out Mathison, it show Rupert Friend's character in his new look. The CIA officer is in long hair wearing baggy pants, according to Hollywood Life.
"Homeland" is scheduled to premiere its sixth season by Jan. 15, 2017 with new cast members joining the team. "Prison Break" fame Robert Knepper will be one of the recurring cast members in the upcoming season. He will portray the role of General Jamie McClendon, a representative from the Department of Defense briefing President Keane (Marvel) and her transition team.
