Telugu actress Laya has rubbished reports that claimed she has met with a car accident in the US. Through a video message, she said there is no truth to the reports and she is healthy.
Some TV channels as well as the print media had reported that Laya had met with an accident while travelling to Los Angeles on Monday. She had reportedly suffered minor injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital immediately. The reports further claimed that the doctors treating her said her condition was stable and there was nothing to worry.
Laya was shocked to read the reports about her car accident. She decided to clear the air by posting a video message. Besides rubbishing the reports, she requested the media to confirm with her before publishing or airing any news about her. Shreyas Media released the video featuring her reaction on its official Facebook page.
"I am sad to hear the news about my accident in some TV channels and print media. There is no truth in the news. I am staying far away from my relatives and friends, who are all shocked to hear the news. They are all calling me over phone and enquiring me about health condition," the actress said in the video message.
"I request all my media friends to confirm the news before publishing it. I feel it is their responsibility. I thank all the friends and relatives, who called me with lot of concern and love. I also thank all my fans. I wish you continue shower your blessings upon me and my family members," she added.
Born into a Telugu Brahmins family in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Laya attended Nirmala High School, where her mother was a music teacher. She was a state level Chess player and also learnt Kuchipudi and performed in more than 50 stage shows.
After completing bachelor's degree in Computer Science, she made her acting debut in the Telugu film industry with "Bhadram Koduko" in the 1990s. Later, Laya starred in over 35 movies and "Swayamvaram", "Hanuman Junction" and "Nee Premakai" are some of her hit films. She was last seen in "Adda" in 2013. She is planning to make her comeback in 2015.
She married Dr Sri Ganesh Gorty on 14 June, 2006, and the couple have a daughter, Sloka, and a son, Vachan. After marriage, she moved to Los Angeles, California, in the US.
