HMD Global Oy, official licensee of the Nokia phones, is on the verge of finalising the product launch event in India to showcase the newly unveiled Nokia phones.
HMD Global has chosen New Delhi to host the event and is most likely to happen in the first week of June, NDTV Gadgets 360 reported, citing company insiders.
However, sources said that HMD Global is bit in a quandary whether to release all four phones together or on different dates. Senior officials of the Indian arm are expected to take the final call by the end of this month.
There is a slight chance that the company might opt to initially launch two phones and roll-out remaining models on later dates.
To recap, Nokia 6, 5, 3 and the Nokia 3310 (2017) were originally unveiled in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 and were supposed to hit global markets in the second quarter, but so far, the phones have not reached any regions.
Earlier this week, HMD Global asked the UK-based Clove Technology to stop taking pre-orders for the new Nokia phones, just yet.
Going by the recent series of events, it looks HMD Global is a bit unprepared, or may be feeling little anxious over how it will be able to satiate the huge demand, considering the fact that it has a huge responsibility of re-invigorating the iconic Nokia brand, back to its former glory.
In a related development, HMD Global has confirmed that Nokia phones, which will go on sale from next month in India, will all be assembled in India and the cost of the devices will be much less than in the global markets.
