It is now a known fact that there would be Nokia-branded smartphones in 2017 marking the re-emergence of the iconic company into the smartphone business after having almost faded away. However, going by a new piece of official information, it is evident that the more iconic Nokia feature-phones would come before the smartphones.
This new information comes from an interview with HMD Global CEO Arto Numella, published in The Economic Times. Here, Arto has provided enough leads about the release of a Nokia-branded feature phone manufactured by HMD Global. Arto stated that HMD Global would venture globally right from the day when the new feature phones (Nokia-branded) are launched.
This means that the new Nokia feature phones would also come to India which is still considered as one of Nokia's strong markets. It is worth noting that old Nokia feature phones are still the first-choice device for a majority of the people in India even in today's smartphone era. Hence, launching of new feature-phones branded again by Nokia (manufactured by HMD Global) makes complete sense.
During his interview with The Economic Times, Arto also made it clear that the new Nokia smartphones would be launched early in 2017. This update also drops clues at the new feature phones coming out even earlier than the newer Nokia-branded smartphones.
Finally, another important aspect that Arto shed light is the pricing of the new Nokia phones. He confirmed that there would be multiple options (in terms of pricing) for buyers to choose from, along with promising the trust and reliability factors that Nokia was known for not too long back. Therefore, Nokia loyalists are advised to keep their eyes and ears open for new Nokia-specific releases.
