For quite some time now, 1990s' popular cult show "Hip Hip Hurray" has been generating buzz as it is all set to return to the small screens with a new season after a gap of 15 years. Zee TV, which used to air the show, is recreating its magic on television with new faces.
The makers started shooting recently for the show, which has Rohan Shah as one of the leads. Rohan, who was last seen in "Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar," has posted some pictures from the shoot on social media.
Besides Rohan, there were reports that Anshuman Malhotra, who played a younger version of Shahid Kapoor in "Haider," will play an important role on the show. Also, the new season will deal with issues like parent-child relationships, teen love and sexuality.
"It's a coming-of-age story, which will tackle issues pertaining to teenage love, sexuality, peer pressure and parent-child relationship. Anshuman Malhotra, who played the young Shahid Kapoor in the film 'Haider,' will be seen in a pivotal role, [sic]" a source had earlier told the Times of India.
"Hip Hip Hurray" revolved around standard XII students who dealt with relationships, exam stress, friendship, drug abuse and more. The youth-centric series featuring TV actress Shveta Salve, "Bigg Boss 9" contestant Kishwer Merchantt, "Kumkum Bhagya" actor Shabbir Ahluwalia and "Rock On" actor Purab Kohli, among others had been a trendsetter. The show also had popular TV actors like Vinay Pathak and Suchitra Pillai in important roles.
It remains to be seen if "Hip Hip Hurray" Season 2 as well as the cast live up to the expectations of the fans of the 1990s' show.
