The collections of Sajid Khan's film "Himmatwala" has dipped drastically particularly at the international box office, in its second week itself. The remake of the 80's blockbuster was one of the most awaited films of the year, but received poor reviews.
In its third weekend, the film collected ₹2.5 lakh from six screens in the UK and ₹36,213 from three screens in the US. The overseas (UK and UK) total stands at ₹3.32 crore.
"In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 3,020 on 6 screens. Total: £ 2,19,694 [₹1.84 crores]," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adrash said, adding "In its third weekend, the film has collected $ 669 on 3 screens. Total: $ 2,70,578 [₹1.48 crores]."
The film, featuring Ajay Devgn and Tamannah in lead roles, has been declared an epic disaster at the overseas box office.
"In USA, #Himmatwala is a bigger disaster than #Joker. Weekend 2 #Himmatwala fell 88.3%, while Weekend 2 #Joker fell 83.2%," Adarsh said.
"#Himmatwala may have sunk faster than Titanic everywhere, but it's a smash Hit in Fiji. Even #Joker, a debacle everywhere, is a Hit in Fiji."
Despite's Ajay's huge fan base the film failed to draw audiences. The over-hyped film was even unable to cross the ₹50 crore mark at the domestic box office in two weeks. It raked in ₹44.90 crore in the first week and around ₹4 crore the week after. The two week domestic total of the film stands at ₹48.90 crore.
Taking note of its earnings, it seems that "Himmatwala" will not even earn the production cost from theatre collections.
