The Himalaya Drug Company, an Indian firm, is looking at generating revenues of Rs 2,500 crore during the next fiscal. The company, which plans to expand its business and distribution network, will also hire around 1,000 people.
The Bengaluru-based firm had posted an annual turnover of Rs 1,800 crore during the last fiscal and it expects sales worth Rs 2,100 crore during the financial year, which will end on March 30, 2017. "We are expecting revenues of upto Rs 2,500 crore in the next fiscal FY18 maintaining a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 20 percent year-on-year," Philipe Haydon, CEO of Himalaya Drug company was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.
The company's personal care vertical (which is the biggest) contributes 42 percent to the company's total sales. That is followed by pharmaceutical 32 percent, babycare at 15 percent, animal health 5 percent and wellness 5 percent. According to its CEO, the company is aiming to expand presence in all the verticals.
"We have just launched Mothercare products with the launch of 4 products followed by at least 8 products in next one and one-and-half years. We expect this segment to contribute to 5 to 6 per cent to our revenues in next two years," Haydon told PTI.
Adding workforce
The company, which is popularly known for its herbal products aims to increase its workforce to 10,000 employees in the near future. At present, the company has 9,000 people on its payroll.
"We plan to add atleast a 1,000 people during the next fiscal in all verticals as we increase our verticals and distribution network that we are in," Haydon told the agency.
The Himalaya brand offers a range of 300 healthcare and personal care products including popular brands like Liv 52, Cystone and Bonnisan. The company operates across 90 countries.
