At least 40 people are feared to have died, after a bus carrying Sikh pilgrims from Punjab fell into a gorge in Kullu, in Himachal Pradesh.
According to a local daily - North Gazette, 40 passengers have drowned, while another 20 were injured. The bus was carrying 60 passengers, ANI reported.
A report on a Punjab-based publication, that the bus was carrying pilgrims from Punjab when it fell into the gorge. The Sikh pilgrims from Barnala district in Punjab were on their way to Gurdwara Manikaran sahib when the bus fell into a 100-feet gorge.
The bus fell into the Parvati River. There is still no clarity on whether the driver lost control due to a brake failure or if the bus was speeding.
Himachal Pradesh recently witnessed heavy rains that washed away several roads in Kullu following the flash floods. The heavy downpour also has triggered several landslides in the region.
