Rnb singer Mary J Blige has inadvertently become the butt of jokes after serenading presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. The No More Drama songstress burst into song in a preview for her sit-down with the Democratic candidate on her Apple Music show, The 411.
In a teaser clip posted to Apple Musics Twitter page, Blige is seen singing passionately about race and police brutality with her eyes closed as a stoic Clinton watches.
The song features the lines: If an officer stops you, always be polite and never ever run away, Promise mama youll keep you hands inside. Is it a gun? Is it a knife? Is it a wallet? This is your life. It aint no secret/you can get killed for living in your American skin.
At the end of her impromptu performance the 45-year-old reaches for Clintons hand and searches her eyes for answers. There is no denying the intense moment as the politician initially struggles to respond to the display.
The clip aired hours after Clintons first televised debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump in her race to claim the White House. Bliges one-to-one singing session divided fans caught up in election fever. While some applauded her for using her platform to evoke change, others claimed that the intense moment was cringeworthy.
The most awkward video on the internet....Why Is Mary J Blige singing to hillary, one critic claimed.
The intimate one-on-one interview with Clinton is the first episode of Bliges show The 411 and will air on 30 September. Another clip shows her asking the former first lady how she intends to rectify the problems facing America if she makes office.
Back in March, the long-time Democratic supporter, debuted her single, Strength Of A Woman, during a Clinton fundraiser. She also performed at President Obamas inauguration back in 2008.
