Former Indian cricketer turned sports commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu, a prominent face on Indian television currently, resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Monday. According to reports, he may join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The news was soon all over social media and the senior BCCI member was greeted with a host of messages on the social media. Mostly hillarious -- tweets that could literally make him say "Chhaa gaye guru" ("you rocked mate") -- a phrase that is frequently heard from him in 'The Kapil Sharma Show'.
Sidhu has reportedly said that being a Member of Parliament is a "burden" and Punjab holds paramount interest to him. Speculations are hence, rife, that the 52-year-old multi tasker from Patiala is set to be a Chief Ministerial candidate for Punjab.
His wife, Navjot Kaur, too is apparently quitting as BJP MLA and joining Arvind Kejriwal's AAP.
