The closing ceremony of the London Olympics was sort of a musical extravaganza with popular singers and bands from the country entertaining the audience. The famous all-girls band the Spice Girls reunited for the big night after retirement and enthralled the audience with their song "Spice Up Your Life."
Other British singers who rocked at the closing ceremony include Ray Davies, The Who, Take That, George Michael, boyband One Direction, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chief and others.
The Beatles frontman John Lennon's hit song "Imagine" was played along with choirs from Liverpool, drawing huge applaud from the audience.
It all happened right before the eyes of the athletes who marched into the stadium as one unified group to bid farewell to London.
Celebration British fashion, Lorries with pictures of the country's supermodels entered the stadium. When the pictures were pulled down, Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger, Kate Moss, Lily Cole, Lily Donaldson and Stella Tennant appeared and walked the ramp.
Then International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge and International Association of Athletics Federations President Lamine Diack presented the medals to the winners of men's marathon. Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda won gold while Abel Kirui and Wilson Kipsang from Kenya won silver and bronze respectively.
The Olympic flag was lowered as the London Welsh Male Voice Choir and the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir sang the Olympic anthem. The flag was handed over to Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, the host of the next Olympics. It was followed by a carnival parade, hinting what people will see in the next Olympics.
