Bollywood actresses are no more just the glamour quotient in movies. They are moving in tandem with their male counterparts, both in terms of recognition as well as remuneration.
A number of actresses in the tinsel town have given solo hits in the recent past, which made them eligible for heftier signing amounts for the projects they take up.
Deepika Padukone--considered the most consistently successful actress in Bollywood--topped the list of "highest paid actresses" in Bollywood till recently, has reportedly been dethroned by Kangana Ranaut.
Two blockbusters--"Queen" and "Tanu Weds Manu Returns"--made Kangana the highest paid actress in Bollywood after she signed a film at a whopping Rs 11 crore, NDTV reported.
However, some trade analysts are not willing to accept Kangana as the highest paid actress on the basis of just one film.
"Deepika Padukone has been the highest paid actress till now (Rs 7 crores approx) and there is no doubt about it. Deepika has been consistent in the price she charges. Kangana can't call herself the highest paid actress if she gets Rs 11 crores for one project and reduces her price for her other films. For 'Rangoon' she was apparently paid under Rs 5 crores," the DNA quoted a trade analyst as saying.
While Kangana and Deepika command the list of highest paid actresses, there are many others who have been consistently among the top 10. The other B-Town ladies consistently figuring on the list include Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma, according to a report by The Times of India.
