Speculations are widespread that pro wrestling legend and Hollywood actor Bill Goldberg is set for a return to the WWE to face none other than decorated combat athlete Brock Lesnar in WrestleMania 33, to be held in Orlando, Florida, in April 2017. A video posted from the official Twitter account of Lesnar as well as the WWE may have turned out to be the teaser.
Goldberg, 49, a former WCW and WWE star, is already one of the superstars hogging the limelight in the pro wrestling company's upcoming WWE 2K17 video game and the "Nine Legends" actor will also reportedly be present in the New York City for the official launch of the video game this Friday.
Also, according to reports, Goldberg may possibly be making an appearance at WWE SummerSlam 2016, which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 21. Lesnar takes on Randy Orton in the WWE pay per view (PPV).
Goldberg may not have signed a contract with the WWE yet but a rematch between him and Lesnar is something fans have only wished over the years, and possibly all roads are leading to that mega fight. The two pro wrestlers squared off in 2004 at the Madison Square Garden in WrestleMania 20, where WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin remained the guest referee.
The match did not quite live up to its billing of a classic as the fans decided to boo both the fighters, who left the pro wrestling company following that one-off match.
It's been more than a decade and following Lesnar's major success in the UFC and a blockbuster return to the WWE, the interest to see the former UFC heavyweight champion go head-to-head with pro wrestling legend Goldberg has once again been generated.
Whether Goldberg will indeed be making an in-ring appearance in SummerSlam 2016 remains widely speculative, but with several months to go for WrestleMania 33, both fighters get enough time to prepare for their dream rematch in the WWE ring.
Interestingly, most feuds in recent times, be it in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) or pro wrestling, have started with a battle on social media. And for now, the way it looks, Twitter probably is being used once again in the perfect way to tease an upcoming battle between Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg.
