The festive season is expected to witness two new scooter launches from Hero Motocorp - the Maetro Edge and the Duet. Both the scooters have reached dealer showrooms, according to gaadiwaadi.com. The website has also taken pictures of what seems to the final product.
The pictures of the Maetro Edge indicate that the scooter has gone for a design revamp. It is more rounded now and looks fresh compared to the current Maestro. The new scooter will get telescopic forks and a new exhaust. There will be an EDGE badging on the side fender and redesigned tail lamps. The pictures also indicate storage box in front of the foot well.
Unlike previous reports of a 125cc engine, the scooter is expected to be powered by a 110cc, single-cylinder petrol engine developing 8bhp and 8.5Nm of torque mated to CVT gearbox. The Hero Maestro Edge is expected to launch by the end of August, and will be priced in the range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 55,000.
The second offering is the Duet scooter, which will be pitted against the Honda Activa-i.
The Duet features more angular design and the headlamp looks a lot like the last generation Activa. A chrome touch in V-shape is high-lighted in the front apron. The Duet will have a grab rail colored in black giving a bit of sportiness. The scooter also gets storage box in front of the foot well.
The Duet is likely to share the underpinnings from the Maestro Edge. The engine is manufactured with the AVL motors that make engines for the Mahindra two wheelers too. The price difference between the Maestro and the Duet is not expected to be steep.
