Although former "The Bachelor" star Chris Soules had a shot at love in the previous season of the dating reality show, things did not work out for him and fiancée Whitney Bischoff.
The duo called it quits just a few months after getting engaged on the 19th season of "The Bachelor".
Their split was amicable, but Soules' apparent interest in the runner-up of the show, Becca Tilley, could have been a contributing factor. Soules and Tilley had undeniable chemistry and it was naturally assumed that Tilley would end up getting the final rose.
But things took a drastic turn when Tilley announced that she wasn't certain about a future with Soules.
"Whitney's a sure thing, but I think Becca is who Chris wants," Soules dad, Gary, observed on the 9 March finale of the ABC dating show.
Although Soules did not try to re-establish a connection with Tilley after things failed to work out between him and Bischoff, sources believe it wasn't because he did not fancy her anymore. Reportedly, Soules is still interested in Tilley, and the farmer from Arlington, Iowa, is said to be seething with jealousy because Tilley has expressed an interest in Ben Higgins, the star of the next season of "The Bachelor".
"Ben H is what most 26 yr old virgins named Becca are looking for," Tilley recently tweeted, hinting that she wants yet another shot at love. And this hasn't gone down well with Soules.
"Chris has nothing nice to say about Ben H, which is hilarious because the guy is a saint. It's so obvious that Chris is jealous of him – he already has more fans than Chris ever did and he hasn't even been on the show yet. The thought of Becca Tilley dating Ben H has pushed Chris over the edge," a source told Celeb Dirty Laundry.
Interestingly, it was initially rumoured that Tilley would pursue Soules after her break up with Bischoff. A May 2015 report noted that although Tilley was friends with Bischoff, she wouldn't hesitate to get into a relationship with the farmer.
"Becca is surprised they called off the engagement. She is friends with Whitney, but that wouldn't stop her from going out with Chris if he asked her. She and Chris have crazy chemistry. She didn't go on the Paradise spinoff show because she's still into Chris. She may not have told him she loved him during the actual show, but she had really strong feelings for him," the source told HollywoodLife.
