Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana are set to share screen space for the first time in Yash Raj Films and Maneesh Sharma's joint production "Meri Pyaari Bindu." The recent buzz is Ayushmann was not the original choice for this flick; it was Arjun Kapoor.
Parineeti and Arjun's chemistry was appreciated in "Ishaqzaade", and the audience would have loved to see them together again on the big screen. The film is set against the backdrop of old Hindi songs and cassettes, and is a story about a Bengali man and Tamil woman.
It seems Arjun didn't find the script exciting, and thus turned down the offer. "He heard the narration but wasn't too excited to play Tamilian Parineeti's Bengali boyfriend," Spotboye.com quoted a source as saying.
Meanwhile, Arjun is set to appear in R Balki's film "Ki and Ka" alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. He is also hosting the television reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi."
On the other hand, fans are eagerly waiting to see Parineeti as a Tamil woman and Ayushmann as a Bengali man. The actress has signed a film after a year, and will make her singing debut with "Meri Pyaari Bindu."
Directed by debutant Akshay Roy, the film deals with two singers, played by Ayushmann and Parineeti. Though Ayushmann has done "Dum Laga Ke Haisha," another film set in the era of old songs, it will be interesting to see the actor as a Bengali singer. He is currently shooting for "Manmarziyan" opposite his "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" co-star Bhumi Pednekar.
YRF announced the film "Meri Pyaari Bindu" by sharing a video on Twitter in which Parineeti revealed details of the upcoming movie. The video shows Parineeti singing a slow melodious track — "Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nehi" — in her own voice.
