While "Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong Ki is definitely riding on the success of the Koream military drama, which aired its finale in April, he has lost out to fellow actor Gong Yoo when it comes to being the actor with the highest brand value.
According to a new report by the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation that gauged the brand value of Korean celebrities, "Train to Busan" actor Gong Yoo leads among other actors. Close on the heels are Ha Jung Woo and Song Joong Ki, who occupied second and third positions, respectively. The actors' brand power was measured by weighing several categories such as participation, communication, media, community, and social, pointed out Allkpop.
Gong's leap in brand value, according to Goo Chang Hwan, the chief of the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation, is the result of the actor's recent blockbuster hit "Train to Busan." While Song Joong Ki is still riding on the success of "Descendants of the Sun," Ha Jung Woo's brand value rose due to the recently released "Tunnel," which is doing well at the box office.
In other news, Gong is all set to captivate his fans with the new drama "Goblin," which will air on tvN towards the end of the year.
The plot of "Goblin," according to Asianwiki, reads: "Dokkaebi (Gong Yoo) needs a human bride to end his immortal life. Meanwhile, the Angel of Death has amnesia. Somehow these two meet and live together. They see off those who have passed away and are now leaving this world."
"Goblin" is the latest offering of "Descendants of the Sun" writer Kim Eun Soo.
